Audubon AdventuresThe East Central Ohio Ohio Audubon Society is a proud supporter of the National Audubon Society's Audubon Adventures Environmental Education Program.
Since its inception in 1984, over 7 million young people have participated in the program. Past topics have included schoolyard habitats, rivers, birds, wetlands, Ohio forests, and the list goes on. Audubon Adventures was developed and is constantly updated by professional educators and presents basic, scientifically accurate facts about birds, wildlife, and their habitats. Audubon Adventures reflects current science standards set forth by the National Academy of Sciences for grades 3 and up. The materials are multidiscplinary so that teachers can integrate them into their existing curriculum without adding a subject.
Audubon Adventures comes to participating teachers as a Classroom Kit (serving 32 students) or as an Individual Kit ( serving 1 student) ideal for home schoolers. Each student receives four editions of Audubon Adventures newspapers to take home and share with their family. Teachers receive a Classroom Resource Manual, an educational video, and other materials to supplement the program. There is also a toll-free hotline for teachers to use if they have questions about the program.
The 2004-2005 edition of Audubon Adventures is hot of the press and is int he process of being deliverd to teachers this fall. The kits contain four Audubon Adventures newspapers filled with brand new topics.. Each child in a classroom receives each of these issues to read and share with friends, neighbors, and family. In addition, the kits contain a teacher resource manual full of activities and ideas for teachers to integrate into their existing curriculum materials and a certificate proclaiming each participating classrooom an "Audubon Adventures Classroom". Kits are still available through the National Audubon Society Office. You may contact them online to order kits or to find out more information about Audubon Adventures at www.audubon.org/educate/aa. Individual kits (1 student) are $19.00 plus $4.95 shipping and handling. Classroom kits (32 students) are $41.50 inclduing shipping and handling. Get one for your child's classroom today!
As a supporter of the Auubon Adventures Program, ECO-AS pledged to provide as many classroom kits as financially possible for the 2004-2005 school year. We serve approximately 160 elementary and middle schools throughout our six county region. This year 28 teachers from six counties signed up for 30 kits which will reach over 1000 students. We would like to thank Newark Resident, Bette Davis for her sponsorship of her grandaughter's classroom at Kettering Intermediate School in Newark. Listed below are the teachers and schools ECO-AS is providing kits for this year. We hope to be able to offer sponsorship of this program at the same level or greater next year.
